On our trusty ole "Dukes of Hazzard," the Carnival of Thrills was the stunt show that came to town in a 1980 two-part episode, wooing poor Bo -- via the charming Robin Mattson of "Santa Barbara" as slinky stunt-show coordinator Diane -- into the action. Can you believe there's a real-life Carnival of Thrills comin' to town -- at least a town you can get to in North Carolina?
The Hazzard County Stunt Team, comprised of seasoned Hollywood stunt guys who were once involved in the production of our beloved '80s show, is bringing on the action at the Concord Motorsport Park in Concord, N.C., this summer. The Professional Stuntman’s Invitational's Carnival of Thrills Stunt Show will feature TV star cars and "the South’s finest hot rods and classic cars." The dates are June 26, 27 and 28.
Expect a spectacular stunt show on both Saturday and Sunday with appearances by some of Hollywood’s best stuntmen. Special guests will include "Dukes" cast members, along with Billie Rae Bates signing copies of the reference book "Them Dukes! Them Dukes!" There will also be a burnout competition, swap meet, car corral and more.
Want to bring a car? The event is open to all American-made cars. Sponsors, vendors and car clubs are welcome.
For more information about the Carnival of Thrills, contact the stunt team at hazzardcounty@carolina.rr.com or call Tom at 704-496-4249 or Wayne at 434-223-1305. The stunt team asks that you print and mail, with your payment to enter the event, this Entry Form.
For hotel accommodations, you can get a discounted rate at Sleep Inn, 1120 Copperfield Blvd., Concord, NC 28025. The hotel is 11 miles from the track. Call 704-788-2150, and use "Hazzard County Stunt Team" when making reservations for discounted pricing. Visit the hotel's site at:
