Checkin' in with John Schneider

It's been a while since we got a status on the continually busy Bo Duke of "The Dukes of Hazzard," so let's just see what Mr. John Schneider is up to ...

- A role on "90210": "Don't be surprised when you see that I am not a nice man on that show," Schneider says in today's issue of his official newsletter. "I guess they needed someone to emotionally beat on Liam" (played by Matt Lanter), "and that's me. I make Lionel Luther look like an understanding parent!" The CW remake of Fox's '80s-'90s "Beverly Hills, 90210" is scheduled to return for its second season on September 8.

- Back in the studio at the end of July recording music again -- "and this time in connection with his good friend Toby Keith," his official site says.

- A movie wrap: A few weeks back, Nasser Entertainment Group wrapped its film of the book "In His Steps: What Would Jesus Do?" by Charles Sheldon. Schneider appears in the film, based on the second best-selling Christian book of all time (behind only the Bible itself!), along with Adam Gregory and Maxine Bahns. The company is planning their second "WWJD?" film to shoot in early next year. To learn more about the film visit WWJDmovie.com.

- No-go on the Clint flick: Schneider was in consideration to play Clint Eastwood's son in a new movie, but no-go. "It seems that he is looking for someone with more of a 'character' look to play his son," Schneider says in his blog. "I'm bummed, but life goes on. Personally I think he forgot what he looked like at 48. I thought it would be a great fit."
